Leke Leke is a tall, narrow waterfall in Mekarsari village, Baturiti, on the southern approach to Bedugul. The water drops from a gap high in a rock face into a small pool surrounded by dense jungle, and from the right angle the falls seem to emerge straight out of the cliff. It is close to the main road between Denpasar and the highlands, yet feels secluded.
The waterfall lies on the forested slopes below the Bedugul highlands, a region of heavy rainfall, cool air and fertile volcanic soil. Farms on the surrounding hills grow vegetables, fruit and flowers for markets across the island. The stream feeding Leke Leke runs through a steep-sided ravine, keeping the base shaded and green for most of the day.
The walk in takes about 10 to 15 minutes, descending through farmland and forest along a path that becomes muddy near the end. The jungle closes in as you approach, and the falls appear suddenly in the narrow gorge, filling it with spray and the sound of water. It is a short, rewarding stop on the way up to Bedugul or Munduk.
