Atuh Beach

A sheltered east-coast cove framed by limestone cliffs and a natural arch

Atuh Beach is a sheltered cove on Nusa Penida's east coast, next to Diamond Beach, framed by limestone cliffs and rock formations, including a natural arch at the far end of the beach. It is one of the more relaxed beaches on the island, with sunbeds, simple warungs and space to spend a few hours.

A concrete staircase was built by locals in 2016, making the beach accessible to visitors. The cove offers some protection, but waves and currents can still be strong, and at low tide the shallows can be rocky rather than sandy. Snorkeling around the rocks is possible on calm days, but swimmers should be cautious and stay close to shore.

The walk down offers views of the cove and the rock formations offshore. On the sand, the cliffs rise behind you, and the arch frames the view of the sea. The beach is quieter in the morning, with soft light on the cliffs. In the afternoon, the shade from the cliffs makes it a pleasant place to relax.
