Visa and Entry Rules

Visa on arrival, the Bali tourist levy and the All Indonesia arrival card

Indonesia's entry rules have changed several times in recent years, so treat this page as a starting point and confirm details shortly before you fly. Citizens of ASEAN countries can enter visa-free for up to 30 days. Most other visitors, including travelers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and much of Europe, use the Visa on Arrival, which in 2026 costs IDR 500,000 and allows a stay of 30 days. It can be bought at the airport counter or, more smoothly, online in advance as an e-VOA on evisa.imigrasi.go.id.

A Visa on Arrival can usually be extended once, for another 30 days, giving a maximum of 60 days; e-VOA holders can apply online, while counter visas require a visit to an immigration office before the first 30 days end. Rules differ between visa types, so check the exact conditions for yours on the official immigration site. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from arrival, and airlines and officers may ask for proof of a return or onward ticket.

Every international visitor to Bali also pays the provincial tourist levy, set at IDR 150,000 per person per visit in 2026, regardless of age. It is separate from the visa. Pay it on the official Love Bali website (lovebali.baliprov.go.id) or app, keep the QR voucher on your phone, and expect spot checks at some major attractions. Holders of KITAS, KITAP and certain other non-tourist visas can apply for an exemption. Ignore look-alike sites charging a different amount.

Since September 2025, all arrivals must also complete the free All Indonesia arrival card, which replaced the separate customs declaration and SATUSEHAT health form with one QR code. Fill it in on allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or the official app within 72 hours before arrival. Overstaying is costly: the official fine is IDR 1,000,000 per day, and long overstays can lead to detention, deportation and an entry ban. Planning to stay for months? Longer-stay visas are covered in Digital Nomads Bali.

Quick tips

  • Buy the e-VOA online to skip the arrival queue
  • Pay the levy only on lovebali.baliprov.go.id or the official app
  • Complete the All Indonesia card within 72 hours before landing
  • Passport needs six months' validity and blank pages
  • Carry proof of onward travel
  • Never overstay, even by a day

Good to know

  • Rules and fees change often, so check evisa.imigrasi.go.id and lovebali.baliprov.go.id in the week before you fly.
  • Only use official .go.id websites; third-party sites often add fees for the same free or fixed-price forms.
