Mushroom Bay, known locally as Tanjung Sanghyang, is a sheltered bay on Nusa Lembongan's west coast, with white sand, calm water and a fringe of trees. It is one of the island's best beaches for swimming, and it is popular with families and snorkelers, as well as day-trippers arriving by boat from Bali. It is also a common drop-off point for fast boats.
The bay takes its English name from the mushroom-shaped coral formations on its reef. The headlands shelter the water from swell, making it one of the safest spots on Lembongan for young children and less confident swimmers. The reef supports fish, crabs and occasionally turtles, and snorkeling gear is available on the beach. Visitors should avoid touching or standing on the coral.
On a calm morning, the bay is still and clear, with boats bobbing at anchor and swimmers floating in the shallows. The beach is backed by trees, offering shade, and a few cafes and hotels line the sand. In the late afternoon, the light turns gold, and the bay feels peaceful once the day-trippers have left.
