Medewi Beach

Home to one of Bali's longest left-hand point breaks

Medewi Beach lies on Bali's far west coast in Jembrana, a quiet fishing village known for a long left-hand point break. The beach is a stretch of rocks and black sand, backed by rice fields and coconut groves, and it attracts surfers who want long rides and a slow, rural pace far from the south.

The wave at Medewi peels left along a rocky point, offering long rides on good days. It suits intermediate to advanced surfers, with smaller days offering a forgiving introduction to point surfing. The bottom is rock and boulder, so booties can be helpful. A right breaks on the other side, though the left is the main attraction.

Mornings here are calm, with surfers walking out along the point and fishermen launching their boats. The village is quiet, with a few guesthouses and warungs, and rice fields stretching inland. In the evening, the sun sets over the ocean, lighting up the long lines of swell wrapping around the point, and the warungs fill with surfers comparing their longest rides.
