The rice terraces of Belimbing village, in the Pupuan district of western Tabanan, are among the most scenic on Bali and among the least visited. The road climbs into hills around 700 meters above sea level, where terraced paddies curve around valleys framed by coconut palms, coffee gardens and forest. Far from the main tourist circuits, the landscape feels unhurried and authentically agricultural.
Pupuan's economy rests on farming, with rice, coffee and cloves as the main crops. The district's elevation brings a cooler climate and regular rainfall, which suits both the terraces and the plantations on the steeper slopes. Water reaches the fields through the same subak traditions found across Bali, shared among farmers according to a common schedule and honored at small field shrines.
Most visitors see Belimbing from the road between Antosari and Pupuan, stopping at viewpoints over the valleys. Walking down into the fields with a local guide shows more: farmers tending young rice, ducks working the flooded paddies and the scent of drying cloves in season. It pairs well with a drive across to Munduk or the west coast.
